How many here can do their job from home - and should companies promote
that idea more now?

It saves on gas, congestion, pollution, et al. Why aren't more pushing it?

I can do my job from home, and have off and on this year as wife's health has had some issues (Arachnoid cyst on posterior fossa) but the company is not out promoting the idea of people working from home much.

I do conference calls instead of meetings as people are all over the US I meet with, answer emails, handle hr related stuff for my engineers, etc all remotely.

What about you? How much do you think it would help the US in general (ie, am I a mere exception to the rule or are many people able to perform their jobs remotely?)

2. I can, and am pushing it. I expect to be able to work from home 33%
of the time. It's a relatively new job, but I'm sort of in charge, so...

4. We are telecommuters.
Spouse is 100 % from home, I don't have a fixed office anywhere but here. My work involves interacting with people face to face sometimes but otherwise can be handled remotely. When I worked for an East Coast company I worked East Coast hours, starting the day at 6:00 am. The upside was that I was off work at 3:00PM most days.

There are a lot of jobs that can't be done remotely but I think everyone who can work remotely should be encouraged to do so at least one day a week. It's beneficial for all parties.

5. Ten years ago I worked from home with a laptop after breaking
my kneecap. Handled most of the work of my job (local government attorney) from home just fine. A courier (who made the rounds anyway) brought incoming mail and took my outgoing stuff. Computers are much better now than they were then.

I could do about half of my current job from home.

6. I telecommute. Yes, they should promote it as it cuts their costs. I
believe the company's building should be for meetings when needed.
