Man, talk about your horrible dreams...
I was sleeping earlier tonight and I dreamed my mom was stupid enough to vote for Katherine Harris in the Florida Senate race this Nov., and rather than just bitching her out like I do whenever she says or does some idiotic Republican crap, I did something really awful.

I swallowed my distaste with the people on here who've been calling for violence against Republicans, took them all off ignore, and posted something to the effect of "You know what, I am sick and tired of dealing with my mother's blind stupidity. You wanna kill a Republican, well, as far as I'm concerned, you can have her and I won't say word one about it."

Anybody know a good way to metaphorically bleach your subconscious? I'm really freaked out by this. Help me...

1. Better to dream about it than do it.
I firmly believe that dreams are the way that the subconscious takes out the garbage.

Were I having similar dreams about my mother, I'd accept that I have a frustration with her that I cannot control and probably cannot dissipate through any action I can take. My dreams are the way that I deal with "Serenity Prayer" issues.

Come to think of it, I am having Very Bad Dreams about my mother right now, though they're not political in nature. She's planning karaoke for her big birthday bash coming up in May and the last thing I really want to do over a weekend is listen to all of my female relatives get drunk and belt out country tunes... especially because most of us are slightly tone deaf...

Hm. Republican. Bad singer. Republican. Bad singer.

Oh, god. What a dilemma.

dreams are rarely at face value but have other meanings, I'm sure most know.

You are having problems with loyality with someone? you, the other? Sounds like a giving up thing to me, but because it's your 'mother' in the dream, means that there is deep connection to consider before you go, a warning to reconsider.

3. I think they are just things that pass in your mind
If you can recall the dream you usually can recall having some of the stuff pass through your mind. Since I have wild dreams for a month , that wake me up and I recall, I swear by that. It has been an off and on life time thing. I have never thought that they mean one thing but that you have all that garbage in your mind. But then people can think what they like and science has been built around this study

8. I think many many people think dreams mean something
You see books all over and I am sure they have been saying it for years and years. I said, I do not think it is true, as I think it is what I said, things that just pass through your mind. I my self think it is fun to hear what people say about nudes in ones dreams specially if I ran around all night nude in my dreams.

4. Whenever I've dreamt of killing someone, or wanting to kill someone
It's been about unexpressed rage and fear of confrontation with the person (or someone else in my life). Usually, though, those dreams began with the murder or a dead body and the focus was on my fear of having someone see it and trying unsuccessfully to clean or cover up the mess. Basically, I think it represented the fear that my ugly thoughts would be exposed.

Sounds like although you say you've bitched her out, you haven't really expressed what you want to express to her, and you want someone else to do it for you, because you feel guilty about it.

Just my pop-psych two cents. :)
