The Pentagon plans new bases in the Middle East

Arab Gulf sources claim the Pentagon intends to set up new military bases and weapons depots in the Middle East to prepare for all contingencies. Besides Iraq and Kuwait, the US forces have bases in Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the UAE. All bases are established under contracts. The Pentagon wants to add new bases and depots to increase its chances to keep the Middle East region under control. According to these sources, Pentagon officials have already drawn up a list of countries able to host new bases and depots. These countries include Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia in the Arab Maghreb, and Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE in the Arab Gulf. The sources also claim the Pentagon discussed the matter with Saudi Arabia, but the latter has not yet agreed
