Bush supporters whose eyes have been opened.
I had a phone chat with my sister the other day. She has been a staunch supporter of Bush (conservative and Texan). We have been unable to talk about politics since before 2000 because we were at such opposite poles.

I could tell she was very disenchanted but would not admit to supporting the wrong side. I will never say anything to her and know she hopes I will leave her the dignity of not having to admit her mistake to me.

Has anyone had any Republicans admit they have been wrong or are they all reacting the same way my sister is?

1. These A&*HOLES Will Still Vote Repub When Nov. Comes
Don't let any of these so-called "converts" fool you. When it comes time to vote, they'll pull the lever in favor of the repub candidates.

King george doesn't have to run again. If he wants to remain King, he'll figure out a way. Poll #'s be damned.

What matters is that these repubs will still vote their party. Whomever the repubs put out, that's the way they'll vote. I've yet to find a repub with enough of a conscience to do otherwise.

18. I agree. I've heard my share of folks with W stickers grumbling about *,
but I fully expect that, come November, someone will convince them that the world as we know it will come to an end unless we elect more Thugs and put an end to:

1. gay marriage
2. gay adoption
3. flag burning
4. some other non-issue
5. all of the above

These clods may not like * at the moment, but I'll bet that very few have lost the fear and paranoia that has allowed the GOP to manipulate them for so long.

My sister is a fundie Bush supporter, who told me that she was wrong about Bush. She said what opened her eyes was the immigration issue. I don't think that she will ever be a dem, because her other issue besides immigration is abortion, but I never thought she would say that she was wrong about Bush.

Which means she'll still vote her party.

I bet if you asked her whether previous regreted decisions to vote for Shrub, will now make her think twice about voting for a repub congressman who supported King george 100% on everything he did.

Tell her to stay home in November, as the dems need all the help they can get.

But they still refuse to admit that they will vote Democrats. I have seen them deny supporting Republicans, but they seem to either completely give up on the system or want to start a 3rd party.

Im betting they will not vote this November.

10. My DBF is, and will probably always be a conservative (but liberal on
women's issues, mind you) but he has begun to grumble about Bush.

I wait for him to say something because I hate Bush with such a passion we just can't have anything resembling intelligent discussion of the man. So I don't provoke. But every once in a while he lets slip some comment or other that makes me think he, too, has begun to TURN.

And he ACTUALLY SAID a couple of weeks ago that he thought high gas prices were a blessing in disguise because it was the only thing going to wean us off dependence on Middle East oil. I about fell over. Then I remembered how many times I have said that very same thing to HIM and he poo-pooed me and said it was all the Dem's fault, blah blah blah. Now he thinks he has come up with this brilliant observation all on his own, lol (or has too much pride and testosterone to admit I was right all along).

We'll win them over one by one.........

15. My bil is a total asshat, he hates the war but loves the tax cuts--his own
son my nephew has done one tour in Afghanistan and 2 in Iraq--BIL still votes for the bush because of the tax cuts.

Ok about 2 months ago he calls my house--5:00am here (someone better be dead or in jail calling that early) well he forgets about the time difference, he lives in Florida(naturally) and i live in California, so i pick up the phone half asleep, i hear a voice but can't really make it out or understand what it's saying but eventually i wake up a bit more and i figure out it's him---"I really think Bush is a disaster, i wish my son was home" wtf??? i say to myself and please, oh please let there be some coffee in the pot from yesterday "I've made a mistake, i should have not voted at all" he says

Anyhow, about a minute later he pauses and i'm dying, it's like 5:20 by now and he's pretty much been talking the whole time and he says "OMG i'm so sorry, i just looked at the clock, i forgot about the time change" i tell him it's ok especially since he needed someone to confess too i was glad that i was home to answer the call.

He would never have voted for Kerry so i didn't even bother telling him he should have, baby steps. Until that phone call we had a deal--no talking politics because it was useless but something in him snapped, maybe he was more scared for my nephew this time or maybe the retired military community he lives has finally had enough of Bush, i'm not sure but either way it's good to know that some of them are at least opening their eyes.

20. My Mother admitted she was wrong
She keeps apologizing over and over again. He finally lost all credibility during katrina, now she just complains about everything he does.

21. My dad
First of all, a little background. My dad is a republican. He believes in the traditional republican views like smaller government, low taxes and social conservatism. I would define him as a REAL republican. His parents were straight ticket dems and some days I think he's a republican because of that. He's not one to really pay attention to all the political goings on. But, I digress...

A few days ago, I was talking to him on the phone and the subject of gas prices came up. We discussed price gouging, supply and demand and how the oil companies are posting record profits while the government continues granting them subsidies. Corporate welfare and then the Bush families ties to big oil and the Saudis. I told him about the book "House of Bush, House of Saud" and how it would change his mind about the Bush family. He said "I think I made a mistake." I asked about what. He said "I voted for him twice"

First of all, my father and I don't discuss politics because we always end up arguing and being a "daddy's girl" I don't want to argue with him. Needless to say, I was stunned by his admission. All I could muster was "I didn't!" Looking back, I do wish that I had said something different but, I was too stunned to really think about it.

My point is this: If Bush has lost my dad, a man who really doesn't pay attention to everything going on, who is true republican, he's in trouble. My dad doesn't admit to his mistakes freely and doesn't talk politics with anyone especially one of his most outspoken liberal children. This was HUGH111 to me.
