Howard Dean's best quotes from his speech today:
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 11:03 AM by The Witch
"Republicans cut and run in New Orleans."

"These are the moral values of America: Honesty, Hard Work, Brotherhood, and Courage."

"This is a President who cannot find a single 6 foot 4 Saudi(?) and he wants to find and deport 11 million undocumented workers? No, he does not - this is SCAPEGOATING."

"It's not fair for the President to leave his mess in Iraq to someone else: He got us into this mess and he owes it to the American people to get us out."

you have to show up in the first place - which the Repugs never did! :grr:

Americans are tired of being lectured to about patriotism by people who always choose party over country.

13. This man could have been our president.
I wish that had happened. But, it didn't. This man, following the integrity of his beliefs, speaks for us to the best of his ability. And he speaks to that which is best within us, calling upon us to do better. He's on the short list of people I consider to be genuine heros.

Thank you Howard, and thank you for the inspiration.

25. Joe Klein's newest says Dean is "prohibitively cold and arrogant"
I couldn't believe it. And he calls Kerry a coward.

snip>
Klein describes himself as a liberal who has drifted toward the moderate center. Liberals might find his book especially tough on their heroes. (He writes off Howard Dean as "prohibitively cold and arrogant.") Indeed, Klein says the Republicans package their campaigns more tidily, and he can't help saluting Ronald Reagan as an effective politician.

As for Kerry: "he was all dignity and no details. ... the man was a hero under fire and a coward when he wasn't."

Can we finally agree to stop calling our candidates boring, stiff, wooden, aloof; and now "cold and arrogant". This is what they do, to anybody. Howard Dean, cold and arrogant, now that is really a stretch. Klein is a turd.

37. Of all the idiotic things to say
What is Klein smoking? If he'd said Howard is a coward and Kerry's aloof and arrogant, he would have been lying, but at least, it would have made some sense.

Aloof and arrogant was out with a wheel barrow yesterday helping to clean up someone's house. Look at the picture someone posted earlier in the thread of Dean laughing. Is that aloof and arrogant?

Klein needs to take his meds.

Ask yourself this: If Bush's response in NOLA was pathetic, would you trust him in your city with a major disaster? Michael Moore showed us his slow response on 9/11...how on earth did Rove spin that into "leadership"?

"It's not fair for the President to leave his mess in Iraq to someone else: He got us into this mess and he owes it to the American people to get us out."

It's true, NeoCon claims that "we're in it for the long run" is just the rhetoric of perpetual war.
So is "everyone thought they had WMDs"

Buxh was ready to use the "liberation" to define his legacy until it all went to hell. Now he wants to hand it off to his successor and proclaim it "America's war" as if he was an unwitting bystander. ....FUGW, This will always be your war.

39. Cause.....
The nation needs committed, reasoned and honest leadership. We need a president with integrity who can inspire us to be proactive in addressing the health care, economic and social challanges facing us at home and the terror, enviornmental and social challanges facing the world. We need a leader whose agenda will be inclusive for all americans, not just a limited group of theocrats and big business. In other words, just the opposite of Bush and his cabal. Kennedy and Dean best represent that for the nation.

47. Did the rethugs really "cut and run" in NOLA? That isn't what I saw.
I saw them use the tragedy to bilk more people and manipulate public opinion:

-> Big money contracts to Halliburton for rebuilding.
-> Used it as an excuse to move Democratic residents out of the area so that their land could be seized.
-> With Dem residents gone, elections held anyway.
-> Used it as an excuse to send gas prices soaring.
-> Used it as an excuse to suspend Davis-Bacon Act.
-> Neglected levees, prevented rescue & relief -- then blamed resulting problems on the Dem Governor.
