"IMPEACH BUSH" is a message of hope and a declaration of our power
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 02:56 PM by pat_k
I've had it with the propaganda that defending our constitutional democracy is "going negative."

I've had it with the propaganda that we cannot afford to defend our constitutional democracy because it would be too disruptive. (Don't you realize we're at war?)

What about the devastation to our government's founding principles?

The servants of the dictatorial administration don't even bother to deny that Bush, Cheney and their co-conspirators are subverting the Constitution; they just denounce us for "weakening the President."

It reminds me of their violation of the principle of consent and denial of reality in 2000. They didn't deny the fact that tens of thousands more Floridians went to the polls intending to vote for Gore than for Bush, they just cynically misused the courts to subvert the intent of our laws and stop election officials from counting legitimate votes.

Let's Get Out There and Call on Our Leaders to Expose Their Lies!

Are the members of Congress that represent you and the Candidates you support looking for a way out of the quagmire in Iraq?

Step 1 is simple: Impeach Bush Cheney

Every day, more of our fellow citizens are coming to understand something that the people and leaders of other nations have long known:
A rogue regime seized the power of the American presidency on January 6th, 2001. The people of other nations can no longer appeal to good will of the American people because we surrendered the sovereignty of We the People.
As long as we leave governing power in the hands of men who are a law onto themselves, options that would be available to a legitimate American President will remain closed to us.

The conflict and chaos that is spreading inhumanity and destroying lives in the Middle East is not inevitable. We can transform resignation into hope right now by reasserting our collective sovereignty, forcing Bush and Cheney out of power, and turning them over to the Hague to answer for their war crimes.

If we restore legitimate leadership in the White House, the doors of possibility that are closed to the fascist war criminals will open

Legitimate American power can be transformed into a force for good overnight. We can commit our nation to the task of engaging the critical players (Sunni, Shia, and Kurdish blocs, ourselves, the EU, Turkey, Russia, China, the Arab League. . . ) and helping them to find solutions that can work because all the parties have a stake in making them work.

If, because of our complicity in the horrors committed by this regime our continued involvement is rejected, we must get out of the way, withdraw our troops, and begin to redeem ourselves by setting aside reparations that would be paid as negotiated milestones and conditions are met.

Are the members of Congress that represent you and the Candidates you support looking for a compelling message of hope and renewal?

Here's a doozie: Impeach Bush Cheney

Treason is defined as "Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign." In the United States, it is the collective will of the people that is sovereign.

The occupants of the White House not only terrorized us into war with baseless threats of mushroom clouds, they are violating countless laws; invoking a fictional right to do so (e.g. claiming authority to continue criminal surveillance of Americans without warrants). Bush and Cheney are leading a conspiracy to violate our collective will. Their actions constitute treason against our constitutional democracy.

Bush and Cheney have made it crystal clear that nothing short of Impeachment will put an end to their treasonous exercise of unrestrained power.

It is difficult to believe the nation has been tolerating their egregious violations, but when countless Americans are so alienated from their own government, it shouldn't surprise us that they fail to recognize the creeping fascism that is subverting the principles and institutions established in our Constitution.

It may sound paradoxical to some, but as we fight to expose the abuses, we are renewing the American spirit of optimism as we call on our fellow citizens to reconnect to their government, recognize their own power, and recommit to the task of forming "a more perfect union."

What could be more positive than reminding each other:
  • that the Constitution is a contract among ourselves;
  • that we yielded NONE of our collective sovereignty to ANY institution we established;
  • that we gave NO party to the contract the right to usurp or surrender our collective sovereignty.
Good flows from doing the right thing. But even if there weren't so many rewards, when high officials in the Executive or Judiciary are subverting the Construction, our representives in Congress are sworn to act, whatever the consequences. ("Fiat Justitia, Ruat Coelum" -- "Let Justice Be Done, Though the Heavens Fall")

------------ A couple notes about our federal design ------------

Contrary to what the fascists would have us believe, the three branches of Government DO NOT share power equally.

When we established our Constitution we vested more power in Congress than the Judiciary or the Executive. As OUR VOICE the balance necessarily favors Congress.

How do we know we gave Congress more power? Simple; we gave Congress the Power to Impeach high officials in the Executive and Judiciary. (The President and the Judiciary Can’t remove members of Congress).

Of course, it is possible for the laws we pass to address specific problems to conflict with each other or with the tenets of our Constitution. We gave the power to resolve those conflicts to the Judiciary, but that power can never TRUMP Congressional action.

We give our courts the task of ensuring that that laws WE enact are consistent with the guiding principles WE establish. As we strive for a more perfect union, we look to the courts to ensure that our laws are the most accurate reflection of our will that can be achieved in an imperfect world.

The democratic leadership won't support impeachment
because they are worried, (I'll translate- Scared shitless)
of Karl Rove.

They believe Karl Rove has the power to fire up
georgie's base to show up in Nov. if they dare
peep about 'impeachable offences' or unlawful actions
by the prez.

They think they don't have to do a damn thing.
That Bush is doing it to himself.

They really do think we are stupid peasants.

10. He nailed the "conventional wisdom," but things are shifting VERY fast !
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 04:47 PM by pat_k
There are many, many good signs. As hope grows, we need to step up our efforts to tear down the bogus rationalizations that are blocking action. (Since energy grows with hope and a sense of possibility, it should get easier and easier to engage our fellow citizens in setting them straight.)

Impeachment is gaining traction. The events of this week reflect the speed with which things are moving.

Carl Bernstein's article in Vanity Fair kicked up the pressure by forcing the mainstream to contemplate the "impossible."

Many who want to see Bush impeached have been dismissing the idea because they mistakenly believe "it'll never happen." As we see more and more discussion of impeachment the possibility becomes real. People who dismissed it as a futile or distracting endeavor are coming around.

The Republicans believe they are fighting us by trying to use "Dems will impeach" as a threat. They are actually helping us by bringing it into the mainstream and making it real. (First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.).

Neil Young's album is viewed as part of a growing drumbeat. (http://www.centredaily.com/mld/centredaily/living/14382953.htm?template=contentModules/printstory.jsp)

Feingold's Censure resolution (which wasn't out there when the billboard first went up) is percolating along. Kerry is now on board and others are coming around.

The icing on the cake is Craig Crawford. When he described how campaigning on Impeachment could be real winner for Dems, he was directly challenging the "conventional wisdom" that Dems would be making a mistake to accuse and call for the Impeachment of Bush (see this post).

Having a DC insider challenge the convention wisdom is a VERY big deal. The rationalizations that other candidates and members of Congress rely on to excuse their failure to stand up can only stand when those rationalizations are fully supported in the insular DC society. A challenge from "within" quickly topples conventional wisdom when that "wisdom" is flat wrong.

20. The Dem "leadership" needs to be slapped back to reality
There is no actual backlash to be summoned -- only beltway bloviation. Even Weyrich used the word "perhaps" when asked about it. Every day they fail to demand impeachment is another day of "Dem weakness" seeping into public consciousness.

If they can't even fight the bushkid, no one will trust them to fight terrorism. They can wheel out all the Really-Real security pamphlets they want. Saying real isn't being real.

If they continue to "coast" they just label themselves as weak coasters. Same old, same old.

There is a link in a post I made connects to our town paper
on coverage of the civil liberty forum.

Impeachment is what nearly all the people have concluded
need to occur to fix this mess.
Our dem leaders just won't stop bloviating long enough
to listen. They believe they know more than the collective
people. Just shameful in America.

This forum sounds like the Harper's magazine forum of a few weeks back in NYC.

Room full of people in agreement that impeachment is required. All saying "what do we do about it?"

For my part, I'm saying "Violence" is the answer.

28. Perhaps a little sompin' sompin like this
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=158x8390

Well, I'm no longer a virgin. I'm now officially a troublemaker.

Yesterday a group of eleven patriots gathered inside Congressman Delahunt's (D-MA)
Hyannis office to hand him signed petitions supporting Congressman Jim McGoverns
HR4232 that would stop funding for further deployment of US Troops to Iraq.

It has been 5 months since the inception of Both McGoverns, and Jack Murtha's own
bill (calling for redeployment of troops) in which time Cape Codders for Peace and Justice
have written numerous letters and made just as many phone calls urging Delahunt to
sign on to McGoverns bill. In these past five months, 300 more American soldiers
have died, and heaven knows how many thousands innocent Iraqi's while nothing has been done
to change the status quo. And in this 5 months not ONE of our letters or phone calls
have been returned by Mr. Delahunt.

Although the good congressman works for us, he doesn't feel the need to communicate
with us to help clarify his position. In his defense, he has done some very good things
for example voting against the initial invasion of Iraq. He also receives major kudos for
working with the democratically elected president of Venuezula, Victor Hugo Chavez for
securing affordable heating oil for this state poor.

Delahunt's chief of staff Mark Forrest was in the Hyannis office yesterday and told us that
although the congressman has signed on to Mr. Murtha's bill ( a bill that is a beginning, yet
still very hawkish) he felt that McGovern's bill conflicts with Murtha's plan. He was not able
to articulate how. CCPJ does not feel these bills conflict, in fact we feel they serve to compliment
each other. These are just Mark Forrests words I will caution, as we don't know Delahunt's
true position, for the simple reason that he does not communicate with us.

CLICK the link above for the rest.

I hear you LOUD and clear
Peace

7. Hear, Hear!! The single moral tenet on which the Constitution, . . .
. . .and therefore the nation, rests is the principle that government power can only be derived from the consent of the governed.

There is notiong more hopeful or inspiring than that.

12. The First Step to Redemption of Our National Soul
Impeachment of bushcheney is simply a moral imperative.

Unless and until it comes to pass a Spell of Delusion will remain, particularly among the DC/Euphemedia Analstocracy. Their delusion is that, no matter how bad it may be, this never-legitimate bush regime is only a temporary storm to be weathered -- their cynicism doesn't allow them to comprehend that permanent damage has been done.

But impeachment/removal will only stop the bleeding. In order to restore our moral ascendency in the world and our social fabric at home, real truths must be faced and real amends must be made.

Yes, all individuals suspected of international crimes must be bound over for prosecution. This part is "above our pay grade."

But perhaps more important is that violation of domestic laws, including laws like fraudulent public representations, must be fully (even overly) and publicly pursued. Any acts that might have thwarted full, accurate vote counting in 2000 and 2004 must be examined microscopically. Any participation, including silent complicity, with domestic spying and/or defrauding (terrorizing) the public over WMDs needs to be revealed.

These tasks need not be drawn out or distractive. The can be completed concurrently with the reversal of all adminstrative and legislative acts of the cabal. But it must be done and it must be thorough, even if it tends to eat into the profits.

Otherwise we only go forward together in dishonesty.

That is not a moral or patriotic option.

A RESOLUTION

Impeaching George Walker Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Resolved, that George Walker Bush, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and the following articles be exhibited to the Senate:

Articles of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, against George Walker Bush, President of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Article 1.

In his conduct of the office of the President of the United States and as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and in willful disregard to the safety and welfare of the members of the Armed Forces of the United States, made false or misleading statements and directed his subordinates to make false or misleading statements orally and in writing to members of the United States Congress and in public speeches and interviews concerning national security threats posed by the regime in the Republic of Iraq and, on March 19, 2003, directed the armed forces of the United States to overthrow the Iraqi government and occupy the Republic of Iraq, causing the deaths of over 2300 service members as of April 1, 2006.
1. On several occasions, George Walker Bush stated that the United States of America had proof that the Republic of Iraq was in possession of biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction, while no such weapons existed.
2. On several occasions, George Walker Bush stated the United States of America had solid evidence of a working relationship between the government of the Republic of Iraq and terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda, which was responsible for attacks against the United States of America on September 11, 2001, when no such relationship existed.
3. On several occasions, George Walker Bush stated that the United States of America had evidence of attempts by the government of the Republic of Iraq to purchase materials for the construction of nuclear weapons and was actively pursuing a program to construct such weapons when the Republic of Iraq had no such construction program.
4. On several occasions, George Walker Bush encouraged his subordinates to state or caused others to believe or failed to restrain his subordinates from stating or causing others to believe that the Republic of Iraq possessed biological or chemical weapons of mass destruction, was actively pursuing a program for the construction of nuclear weapons or had a working relationship with international terrorists responsible for attacks on the United States of America on September 11, 2001.

In all of this, George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore George Walker Bush, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.

Article 6.

In his conduct of the office of the President of the United States, George Walker Bush, and in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, entered a conspiracy to unmask the identify of a covert operative of the Central Intelligence Agency and to declassify documents or make unauthorized publication of classified documents for the purpose of personal gain in a manner inconsistent with the security of the United States of America.

In all of this, George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

20. Phone jamming in the state of New Hampshire by White House officials during the 2002 election.
21. Stolen computers from the state of Ohio’s Democratic headquarters during the 2004 election cycle.

In all of this, George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

6. Proposing military strategies involving the first use of tactical or low yield nuclear weapons in violation of the Nonproliferation Treaty, which is an inherently destabilizing strategy that encourages participants in a conflict to strike before the other side can do so.

In all of this, George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

20. Repeatedly manipulating the sentiments of the American people by erroneously linking Iraq with the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 by al Qaeda.
21. Repeatedly claiming that satellite photos of sites in Iraq depicted factories for weapons of mass destruction in contradiction with the results of ground inspections by United Nations teams.

17. + Bomb Threat -- TERRORIZED the nation with "Mushroom Clouds in 45 min"
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 01:19 AM by pat_k
Great compilation! Printed to read more closely later.

"They terrorized us" is something I'd like to see forced into the echo chamber. Lying is too tepid a label for their acts.

They TERRORIZED the American people with the most colossal bomb threat in history (mushroom clouds in 45 minutes).

It all comes back to their treasonous exercise of unrestrained power.

For every abuse, national and international, they have sought cover in their so-called "theory" of urinary(1) authoriatarian executve power; the fascist fantasy that as long as they claim they are acting to "defend" us, they can violate our laws, commit international crime in our name, and corrupt our institutions to serve themselves.

Every time Bush, Cheney, or their minions invoke urinary authoritarian power as their get out of jail free card, they declare themselves traitors. This high crime subsumes all others. It's really all we need to force them from power tomorrow. Comprehensive investigation, congressional hears, and criminal prosecution in our courts and at The Hague can follow.

Whether or not we include their torture Gulags, their terroristic threats of Mushroom Clouds, their aggressive war, and the other crimes you capture in your articles of impeachment, we must keep it ALL on the radar in the court of public opinion. There is so much that it merges in to an inescapable black cloud that will drive away even their staunchest bootlickers.

(1) The right to piss down our backs and call it rain.

==============================================================================================

Although articles of Impeachment need not be violations of written law(2), there are plenty of such violations to chose from. Below is the list I emphasize. You have most covered, but feel free to adopt anything you like.

  • Violations of the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act -- U.S. Code Title 50, Section 1805

  • Violations of U.S. Code Title 18, Section 844 paragraph (e). Bomb Threat -- Whoever, through the use of the mail, telephone, telegraph, or other instrument of interstate or foreign commerce, or in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, willfully makes any threat, or maliciously conveys false information knowing the same to be false, concerning an attempt or alleged attempt being made, or to be made, to kill, injure, or intimidate any individual or unlawfully to damage or destroy any building, vehicle, or other real or personal property by means of fire or an explosive shall be imprisoned for not more than 10 years or fined under this title, or both.

  • Violations of U.S. Code Title 18, Section 35. Imparting or conveying false information (Bomb Hoax)

  • Countless acts of negligent homicide, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and wreckless endangerment of the members of our armed forces.

  • In their failure to take even minimal steps to prevent the attacks of September 11th, they committed more than 3000 acts of negligent homicide and countless acts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and reckless endangerment.

  • Violation of the Title 18 section 2441. War crimes

  • Violations of U.S. Code Title 18 in the 2000 and 2004 Presidential <s>elections, In particular:

    • Section 241, which makes it unlawful for two or more persons to conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any citizen in the exercise of a right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States (including the right to vote in an election for President).

    • Section 594, prohibits the intimidation or coercion (e.g., 10-hour poll-tax lines) of voters for the purpose of interfering with the right to vote for a candidate for federal office. (This statute does not require violent intimidation.)

(2) Bugliosi includes a discussion of the types of crimes in None Dare Call it Treason. Unlike malum prohibitum (wrong because they are prohibited), malum in se (wrong in themselves) crimes involve morally reprehensible conduct that is wrong, often evil, even if there is no law against it. Bush and Cheney's treasonous claim that no law defined by others applies to them is such a crime. Congress never dreamed of enacting a statute making it a crime to steal a presidential election, but the five black-robbed robbers that handed down the Bush v. Gore edict are nevertheless criminal. After we force bushcheney from power, we can turn our attention to impeaching them (a posthumous impeachment for Rehnquist).

16. Okay, lets impeach the bastards.
a growing crescendo looms over the white house but no one, not one person, who has the power to do something has done it. Other than talk nothing has been done. How many more violations must we endure?
And now we hear the bastards making noise of "nuking" Iran. Using nuclear weapons!! Holy shit what more do we need to put these idiots away? I'm guessing it just isn't going to happen before the little man/god decides (he is the decider) to start the next phase of PNAC's plan. Iran.

18. We're chip, chip, chipping away at their rationalizations. . .
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 12:59 AM by pat_k
There is no sufficient substitute for in-person dialog, which allows you to directly contradict the many rationalizations and excuses given for inaction.

Calls and letters effectively show the breadth of support, but one way communication is limited. All too often, what we tell them just slides off their system of rationalization like water off a ducks back.

Some Citizen Lobbyist "How To's" here:

And some Ammo to challenge their rationalizations here:

Other working drafts: http://january6th.org/drafts.html

We'll see the bastards impeached even if we have to do it posthumously!!!

21. It's also a statement to the rest of the world.....
that we will do whatever we can to control OUR monster. No, we didn't elect him, and we need to prove that, but he is doing his thing in our name. If we are ever to have any friends in the world again, we need to show them we will stop Bush.

After all, we are the only people in the world who CAN stop Bush.
