Worst Backdrop Yet? ---pix--->>>

Flanked by a pair of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, President George W. Bush talks about reducing the country's dependence on oil after touring the California Fuel Cell Partnership facility in West Sacramento, Calif., Saturday, April 22, 2006. The President toured the facility were several car manufacturers are working to perfect hydrogen fuel cell technology for automobiles. 36. I seem to remember it costs $75,000 to fill AF1.
USA Today reported this on 6/01/2004:

$56,800-per-hour the Air Force estimates it costs to run Air Force One.

Here is another estimate in 2005 from
KVIA.com – The El Paso News Leader:

Every Bush flight is costly

WASHINGTON President Bush is on his seventh trip to the Gulf Coast since Hurricane Katrina hit a month ago. The visit comes even as he encourages Americans to save gas, and to cut out unnecessary travel. He says federal employees will do the same. The president's spokesman says this trip is, in fact, essential -- so the president can get a look at recovery efforts.

Spokesman Scott McClellan says the president's motorcade of gas-guzzling vans and S-U-Vs is being shortened. But it's hard to make similar savings on Air Force One. The Air Force recently estimated that fuel costs on the presidential aircraft have risen past six-thousand-dollars an hour, up from just under four-thousand in the last budget year.

What is the cost now at over $75 a barrel?

and in the background was one of the Marine Blackhawk Helicopters they take with them to fly him around. Now, you have to understand the logistics of this. HE flys on a 747 from DC to take a BIKE ride in California. Along with the 747 are at least 2 Air Force C-17 cargo planes, one of which carries at least one of those Blackhawks, Rotors folded, of course, so that he can fly around to the various places too close to bother flying the 747. Usually, if i am not mistaken, the other C-17 carries the Secret Service detachment with all the limos and black suburbans to tote him around as well.

So - the real irony here is that he went to have photo ops about fuel saving vehicles and the entourage that followed him burned HOW MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF JET FUEL TO GET HIM THERE?

Can you say "Hypocrisy"?

I knew you could

This giant horses ass has used Air Force one more than the previous 3 presidents combined. (I'm guessing here but i bet i'm not far off)

Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 06:50 PM by A HERETIC I AM
and info about the airborne logistics of even his shortest hops. I can't find one. Not through Google, anyway. I know he doesnt always fly on the 747. Many places the president might go have airfields too small for that big plane. In fact, you folks might remember there was an incident during Clintons Admin where Clinton went somewhere in the Midwest in one of the older 707 airframes they still used and the pilot accidentally drove it off the taxiway and got it stuck (a career ending move, i'm sure)

The point here is that it is hardly EVER just one plane.

This dick uses more jet fuel in one week than you and i will use gasoline in a lifetime.

Also, as I understand, hydrogen fuel takes more energy to produce than what you will get out of it.

26. This is "Spinal Tap"
For anyone who has never seen the movie, it is about a Rock Group, that has played all the major venues, has had major success and then starts tumbling downward.

At the end, they are performing for Supermarket Openings, High Schools, anywhere to make a buck, but they still believe that they are on top and that they will be able to turn the whole thing around.

One of my favorite movies.
