14. Safe mode is windows without all of the device drivers...
and other startup programs loaded. Normally used to troubleshoot
startup problems, but keeps some viruses from loading at start up too.
Yes, it is available in Win98 and accessed the same way.

Did you move your mouse down
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 08:58 PM by shraby
to the very bottom edge of the screen and see if it turns into a straight line? If so, when it does hold your left clicker down and move the line upward.

One more thing, it may be on the right edge of your screen too where you can't see it. If it isn't at the bottom, out of sight, try the other edges.

It's so nice to have a "website family". If I get it "fixed", will post it, that is if I can remember what I did.

15. Google results for "disappearing taskbar" and "windows 98"
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 08:14 AM by tiptoe
1) Google results: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%2B%22disappearing+taskbar%22+%2B%22Windows+98%22

My taskbar often disappears. I do not have auto-hide checked and it is not
on any edge of my screen where it could be pulled. I have to log off and log
on and then it re-appears only to disappear a couple of days later. Can
anyone help?

Okay, so I guess this means that you have covered all of the settings
including "keep on top."

Two reasons for the taskbar to go missing that I can think of.

A crash of the shell (explorer.exe). The failsafe usually reloads the shell
automatically but using task manager to run explorer.exe will force it to
reload.

Malware: Spyware, virus, etc. Check system thoroughly using products with
recent definitions/signature files.

Also, a script to restore the taskbar to default functions (fixes a myriad
of taskbar problems) can be found here:

What “ORDERS”? Mineta’s Mineta’s testimony
Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta provided provocative testimony before the 911 Commission. He testified that he went down to the Presidential Emergency Operations Center under the White House at about 9:20 on 9/11/01. Vice President Cheney was there and in charge.

  • “During the time that the airplane was coming in to the Pentagon, there was a young man who would come in and say to the Vice President, "The plane is 50 miles out." "The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to "the plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the Vice President, "Do the orders still stand?" And the Vice President turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?"

  • What orders? Evidently there were orders NOT to scramble military jets to intercept the plane, since the plane was known for 50, 30, and 10 miles out and yet never intercepted. The commission did not ask such questions, did not include Mineta’s testimony above in the 9/11 Commission Report a glaring omission (Griffin, 2005), and removed the video of Mineta’s testimony from the 9/11 Commission website (See http://www.911truthmovement.org/video/hamilton_win.wmv )

  • Mineta seems an honest man. The testimony of Secretary Mineta strongly motivates further questioning under oath of the principals here and of this unidentified young man.
