Since Monday's reports that Caroline Kennedy indeed wants Hillary Clinton's US Senate seat, the would-be lawmaker has kept a pretty busy schedule for someone who insists this isn't a campaign.
On Monday and Tuesday she worked the phones. On Wedensday she met with upstate elected officials.
Yesterday's focus was on New York City Democratic county leaders. She met with Brooklyn boss Vito Lopez, who was so impressed he endorsed her, and then hit Queens boss' Joe Crowley's holiday party.
Next up on Kennedy's meet-and-greet list: Labor leaders.
This morning, she had a quiet chat with UFT/AFT head Randi Weingarten at a hotel restaurant where she was recognized by no one but Times reporter Jonathan Hicks, who just so happened to be hanging around in the lobby (along with a photographer).
Weingarten, who was herself mentioned as a contender for Clinton's seat, said of her supposedly non-political talk with Kennedy: "It was a discussion chock-full of information."
Kennedy also met today with 32BJ President Mike Fishman, who sounded very positive after the fact, saying:
"We had a broad discussion about how government can help keep people out of poverty. She is on the right side of issues we care about, including creating good jobs, health care, green jobs and employee free choice. I thought she was very down to earth, a good listener, and clearly committed to representing New Yorkers in the Senate."
