ALBANY - Caroline Kennedy reached out to union leaders yesterday, including having coffee with the powerful head of the city teachers union.
Kennedy and Randi Weingarten met in a Manhattan hotel restaurant, where the two discussed education and labor issues for an hour.
"We had a really productive conversation," Weingarten said. "She was engaged and asked a lot of questions and listened intently. She was taking a lot of notes."
Kennedy has asked Gov. Paterson to appoint her to fill the Senate seat Hillary Clinton will vacate to become secretary of state.
In addition to front-runners Kennedy and Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, Paterson has said Weingarten is among those he will consider for the seat.
