Waxman's non-union Toyota

Henry Waxman -- the California congressman who toppled Michigan's John Dingell from his chairmanship of the powerful House Committee on Energy and Commerce in a battle widely described as environmentalist (Waxman) vs. auto industry defender (Dingell) -- had this to say when questioned by the New York Times for a story published Sunday:

QUESTION: Do you drive a hybrid car?


ANSWER: No. I have a 2002 Toyota Camry.


Q: I'm surprised you don't drive an American car.


A: This car was made in Kentucky by Toyota. The last time I bought an American car, they had to ship it in from Canada.


(For the record, the Kentucky-made Camry is not a UAW product.)
