A judge on Thursday denied Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg’s bid for a temporary restraining order seeking to overturn Executive Director Doug Allen’s firing and the disbanding of the union’s negotiating committee.

Rosenberg and three other board members, Anne-Marie Johnson, Diane Ladd, and Kent McCordmade their first attempt on Tuesday to overturn the SAG board’s Jan. 26 decision, but Los Angeles Supreme Court Judge James Chalfant told their attorneys to return Thursday with a cleaned-up filing.

Thursday, Chalfant denied the request -- saying it had no probability of success on the merits of their claims. Variety reports Thursday that Chalfant said the SAG board acted legally and within bylaws when it fired Allen. Rosenberg’s suit claimed the SAG board’s firing violated California corporate code.

SAG Interim National Executive Director David White stated Thursday that he is happy the matter is no at the forefront of SAG. He hopes to return to serving union members now that the judge has made his decision. The union will meet Saturday to discuss commercial-contracts negotiations. A board meeting will take place Sunday. No topics for Sunday’s meeting have been released.
