On December 19, 2008, Barack Obama nominated Rep. Hilda Solis to serve in his cabinet as Secretary of Labor.

Seven weeks later, however, the Senate still has yet to confirm her -- thanks to obstructionist Republicans playing politics with her nomination.

Over those seven weeks, more than 600,000 American workers lost their jobs.

Enough is enough. America is suffering its greatest economic crisis in living memory. Workers everywhere are struggling as jobs are cut, wages are slashed and homes are repossessed. They need someone who will fight to put them back on the path to prosperity.

Barack Obama believes Hilda Solis is that person -- and she is ready today to get to work to help restore the economy, rebuild the middle class and renew the American Dream.
