United to move jobs back to the US
Edited on Wed Feb-11-09 06:45 PM by blaze
Did anyone post anything about this? I know it's a drop in the bucket, but it seems like United ought to receive some recognition for it.

"United Airlines, the third-biggest North American carrier, will return 165 call-center jobs to the U.S. from India to help improve customer service. The jobs will be filled by workers in Chicago and Honolulu who now handle reservations, the Chicago-based airline said. Beginning in April, the workers will add customer-relations duties, which involve issues or complaints after travel. The move reverses a decision to ship the positions to India, a United spokesperson said."

2. Good! May this be the beginning of a flood of jobs returning to America.
I'll take the drop. It could be a flood someday.

3. I hope this is a trend!
And I hope these corpos are realizing that they are going to get justifiably punished if they don't stop outsourcing.

5. Thanks for the K&R
This was buried in the Rcky Mtn News.... I wonder why it isn't bigger news.

I may have to take a flight in the next couple weeks... I usually fly Frontier because they are usually *lots* cheaper!! But Frontier recently outsourced their maintenance :wow: to somewhere in central america!!!

When I call to make my reservations with United, I will make a point to mention I am flying with United because of their decision to keep (or return) those jobs to the US.
