Feds recover wages for Neb. workers (pd below minimum & no overtime)

The U.S. Department of Labor says it has recovered more than $42,000 in back wages for 14 restaurant workers.

The department said in a news release Friday that the workers weren't being paid at least the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour and weren't getting paid overtime.

They worked for Family Buffet Inc., which was doing business as Top of the World Buffet.

There is no public listing for Family Buffet Inc. Restaurant manager George Wea says that he couldn't speak about the wage policies because the problem had occurred under the former ownership. He says the restaurant had been under new ownership for about two months.

Wea says he thinks the recovered money had been distributed to the 14 people.

State filings do not list Family Buffet Inc.
