Senate Democrats are expected to act soon on $174 billion jobs creation bill that will act as a second stimulus package. Jesse Russell has more.

Dubbed the “Jobs for Main Street Act” the measure is intended to target investments in arenas that can create sustainable jobs over time. The House of Representatives passed the bill on December 16. Carol Stambaugh is Executive Director of the National Association of Social Workers Arizona Chapter. She says the country needs more New Deal style federal works programs that people can watch being created.

: "People right now need the tangible, the things that they can see – either in their hand, in their pocket or in their community – and such a program would provide that."

She said that the current United States infrastructure has plenty of opportunities for growth and renewal with so many people changing the way they live.

: "We’re looking at a greener society. We’re looking at trying to change the way that we do things and that we live life. And this is a way to be able to invest in some of those new ideas. For example, railway; for example, improvement in our already-existing mass transit system."
