American Airlines mechanics vote down latest contract offer

On Tuesday mechanics at American Airlines voted down the company’s most recent contract offer setting the stage for a potential strike. The workers have faced pay cuts, heavier workloads, layoffs, and more over the last few years as they’ve sacrificed to help the airline return to profitability. Now they want to be rewarded for those sacrifices. The airline has been in negotiations with the flight attendants, ramp workers, and pilots for going on nearly three years. If the mediation board calls an impasse it would give the unions the power to proceed with a strike.

1. The article fails to mention that

while all the various workgroups took major concessions to save the airline, the top "talent" at the airline made sure they received their bonuses each and every year. It's just too damn bad the work groups didn't make sure they had a "snapback" clause when they took the concessions. (Supposedly to keep AA out of bankruptcy). That way they could have been given back their wages,work rules, and vacations that they had given up in 2003.
