HOUSTON – Players from the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans were the latest to make a statement of solidarity regarding the NFL’s labor uncertainty.
At the end of the national anthem prior to this afternoon’s game at Reliant Stadium, players for each team took several steps onto the field and thrust their index finger into the air to show they were united as a group in an effort to reach a new collective bargaining agreement with owners.
The current CBA expires in March, leaving the fate of the 2011 season and Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium in doubt.
The gesture first was made by the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings in the NFL’s first game Thursday.
