SC voters OK right to secret ballot in union votes

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9J8L6502.htm

The Associated Press November 3, 2010, 8:18AM ET

COLUMBIA, S.C.

South Carolina voters on Tuesday approved four constitutional amendments, among them provisions saying residents should have a constitutional right to hunt and fish and to vote with a secret ballot in union elections.

Two other approved questions set out rules for the state's reserve funds.

Legislators who added the hunting and fishing measure had argued the amendment was needed in case gun control supporters eventually try to restrict the sports.

1. Secret ballots is a good thing, right?
They should have also voted on the right for people to join unions without intimidation, threat of firing, etc.

2. Currently ALL union elections are secret ballot

The employer can accept card check, but is not required. This stops EFCA on the state level should EFCA ever pass. EFCA goes a long way in stopping illegal activities by employers too.

3. What is this "EFCA" of which you speak? Is this some secret code?
:sarcasm: :sarcasm:

I haven't heard a PEEP or read a WORD about EFCA in this Election cycle--hell since LAST YEAR'S election.:-(

.....Other than the obligatory C of C sponsored DREK about it being a "Job Killing bill" or a "Payback to Union Bosses" or being described as "The deceptively named Employee Free Choice Act"....etc.

EFCA's was DEAD before the Pukes took back the House, now it's CREMATED. I'm sorry for being so negative Steve, but you know how much interest & effort I put into EFCA, and to have it die without a vote, not even any watered down amendments to the archaic and hopelessly ineffective NLRA well I just...

4. Blame soon to be former Senator Lincoln!

Unions don't feel bad at all about the part they played in her downfall!

5. I guess the "Unnamed Source" In the Administration **cough cough--Rahm--cough cough** wasn't
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 05:06 PM by Earth Bound Misfit
completely wrong when he famously said that the Unions "could have made a real difference in November"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/09/blanche-lincoln-win-spark_n_605443.html
"Organized labor just flushed $10 million of their members' money down the toilet on a pointless exercise," the unnamed official said to Politico's Ben Smith. "If even half that total had been well-targeted and applied in key House races across this country, that could have made a real difference in November."

Good Fucking Riddance to Bad Fucking garbage like Lincoln AND Rahm, who IMHO, was President Obama's biggest blunder of the MULTITUDE of cabinet appointment blunders he committed, closely followed by Lil' Timmy Geithner and his handing the "keys" to Larry "Goldman Gang" Summers as the person responsible for "getting the car out of the ditch" the Pukes put us in.

There's plenty of blame to go around on this one, not just Lincoln... the so-called Democratic Senator from your state is a prime suspect also... as are all the other so-called "progressives" in our party who pay only lip-service support to Unions in general and EFCA in particular...
up to and including the President.
