Tune in now to AFGE’s “Inside Government” for more reaction to the federal employee pay freeze! The show, which originally aired on Friday, Dec. 10, is now available on demand.
AFGE Public Policy Director Jacque Simon provided additional analysis of the pay freeze and commented on how it would impact the federal government’s recruitment and retention efforts.
Tim Shamble, president of AFGE Voice of America Local 1812, then addressed the effects of the pay freeze on members of Local 1812 at Voice of America. Shamble indicated that local economies could suffer in regions where a large number of federal employees live because less money would be spent in those areas.
AFGE 11th District National Vice President Gerald Swanke and 10th District Women’s Coordinator Fredna White, who attended AFGE’s National Veterans Affairs Council 20th Triennial Training Convention, discussed a number of issues pertaining to our nation’s veterans. Swanke spoke of the need to care for veterans when they return home from war and White addressed the union’s fight to obtain full collective bargaining rights for all VA employees.
