Here is one of the organizations trying to change state law on how public workers settle wage disputes:
http://platteinstitute.org/The cities of Omaha and Lincoln have already approved having their lobbyists working against us too.
We can't strike btw. Here is the mail from the labor federation I got today.
TO: All Union Leaders and Omaha Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO Delegates
Please see the attached “Resolution Defending the Commission of Industrial Relations.”

RESOLUTION DEFENDING THE COMMISSION OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, in the last thirty years, the Commission of Industrial Relations has predictably and successful resolved industrial disputes in the public sector of our economy as successfully as any other process in any other state; and,
WHEREAS, the Commission of Industrial Relations’ process has been so predictable that it has minimized the number of lawsuits which are filed by employer or employee groups; predictability minimizes the potential for a lengthy dispute process and thereby saves significant energy on both sides of the bargaining process; and,
WHEREAS, the frustration with the Commission of Industrial Relations is directed by management groups who wish to have an advantage in the bargaining process by interjecting the concept of affordability which is untested and undefined;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors go on record in support of the Commission on Industrial Relations and its existing process.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we urge the Nebraska Legislature not to fix what is not broken.
Introduced by Board members
