In New York City news, a panel of judges ruled on Tuesday that the Metropolitan Transit Authority is obligated to give subway and bus employees a 3 percent raise next year as well as lower health care contributions. The MTA had made claims that a contract agreement reached in arbitration was unaffordable and has been making legal challenges which culminated with Tuesday’s Appellate Division ruling. Health care contributions will be reduced from 1.53 percent of earning to 1.5 percent of earnings and doesn’t include overtime.
