RALSTON, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say no injuries and only minimal damage are reported after a Union Pacific freight train hit a locomotive on the main tracks near a grain elevator in Ralston in western Iowa.
Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis says the accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday when the locomotive "rolled" out of the elevator onto the main line. Davis says the locomotive is owned by the grain elevator.
Davis says the freight train, which was headed from Chicago to California, was hauling 76 cars full of vehicles. It was going about 20 mph, and there was no derailment.
Davis says there are two main tracks in the area, and train traffic is still moving.
