Seventeen thousand nurses have a new tentative labor contract agreement with Kaiser Permanente in California. The California Nurses Association/National Nurses United says the tentative agreement covers 21 hospitals and 40 medical offices across northern and central California. The union says more than 20 important professional and economic enhancements were achieved but further details aren’t being released until the nurses have a chance to vote on approval of the contract. The California Nurses Association says the achievements were possible in a state with a minimum nurse-to-patient ratio law. The CNA/NNU says its very pleased to recommend that its members approve the contract because it protects patients and defends hard-fought economic and practice standards.
