Here's what some of the ex-governors/possible presidential candidates are saying:
Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty has an online petition supporting Waker for "making tough choices needed to avoid financial ruin." Pawlenty also takes a swipe at President Obama, who last week said Walker's proposal "seems like more of an assault on unions."
Mike Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, said Sunday on Fox News that Obama "didn't have to go this far" in his critique of Walker's proposals, nothing that the Democrat "would not be sitting in that office were it not for public sector unions who rallied for him in a significant way."
Mitt Romney, formerly Massachusetts' governor, tweeted last week that Walker is "doing what's necessary to rein in out-of-control public sector pay and benefits."
Sarah Palin said on her Facebook page that the demonstrations reminder her of full-page ads that ran in Alaska "when I put my foot down in dealing with union demands" while she was governor. She agrees with her other ex-governors/possible presidential candidates that unchecked costs could lead to Wisconsin's financial ruin.
"As goes Wisconsin today, so goes the country tomorrow," she writes.
