Communities across nation show solidarity with Wisconsin workers

20 February 2011

WASHINGTON - From Juneau, Alaska, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, communities across the country are planning rallies in solidarity with the workers in Wisconsin.

"The roll-back on our rights isn't just a problem for Wisconsin," the United Food & Commercial Workers note on their website. "Similar proposals to lower wages and benefits for working people are starting to sweep through the country.

"These measures aren’t designed to help working people—they would simply eliminate our right to have a union voice on the job. And this plan won’t shore up state budgets or bring the kind of quality jobs to our communities that we need so desperately."

The UFCW has listed dozens of events scheduled this week. View the list: http://www.ufcwaction.org/site/PageNavigator/UFCW/ufcw_solidarityactions
