Co-workers found the construction worker on the ground -- knocked flat and knocked out -- near his front-end loader on a concrete-crushing job just northwest of Lincoln.

When he awoke, he couldn't say what had happened.

Now OSHA is trying to find out.

The federal agency confirmed Friday it is investigating the May 18 accident at 6633 N.W. 48th St. that left 39-year-old Bob Muhlbach with a crushed chest and broken wrist.

He was in serious condition at BryanLGH Medical Center West, although his boss said his health was improving.

"Last I heard, he was doing quite well," said Chad Pester of Pester Grading.
