South Carolina Workers To Congress And Boeing: NLRB Correct To Enforce Labor Law

By Doug Cunningham

South Carolina workers want the country to know that the National Labor Relations Board is protecting workers’ rights by charging Boeing with violating labor law. The NLRB says Boeing broke the law when it retaliated against union workers in Washington state by locating a new plant in South Carolina and moving a thousand jobs there . Boeing repeatedly threatened to locate the jobs there, rather than in Washington state, to avoid union workers. Joe Shelley is a South Carolina member of United Steel Workers.

: “What I want people to know is that we are not against Boeing coming to South Carolina. We want these jobs here, we do. We just want them to do it legally. The only way we're going to get a stronger economy and a stronger working class is for the government to enforce the laws we have on the books. We're not asking for 'em to put new laws on the books, we just want them to enforce the ones we have."
