Lede: At the last minute Wisconsin Governor Walker changed the location of his budget bill signing. Doug Cunningham reports.

By Doug Cunningham

Walker had picked the anti-union Badger Sheet Metal Works to sign his anti-union budget bill but then something happened that apparently shamed even the shameless Walker. News surfaced that the owner of that business ,Greg DeCaster, served prison time in a federal tax evasion case. Walker changed the locatiojn of his budget singing on that news. But I asked David Goodspeed of Sheet Metal Workers Local 565 about Walker’s choice of an anti-union business for his budget singing in the first place.

: “It’s a symbolic measure on their part. They’re gonna continue poking at union people and undermining the standard of living that union people have in this state. Hopefully the recalls can make a dent in their ability to influence legislation here in the state.”

Primaries in the Wisconsin State Senate recalls will be held July 12 wit ha regular recall election to follow August 9th. Recall action against Governor Walker can’t happen until he’s served in office a year, but an effort against him is coming in January.
