Things have been crazy this year in the Daily Kos lab. We've been cooking up all sorts of cool new stuff, like moving into new offices, implementing DK4, building new Elections and Comics verticals, staffing a full technology team, bringing new writers aboard like Hunter, fleshing out our activism efforts, and a bunch of stuff that you won't see until months from now.
Today, I'm thrilled to announce the launching of Daily Kos Labor–a new vertical focused on issues of importance to working Americans.
Daily Kos Labor will be managed by Laura Clawson, and her team of contributors will include Meteor Blades, Hunter, Steve Singiser, and Mark Andersen, formerly known as Kodiak54. In other words, it's an all-star cast for a topic of supreme importance, from Wisconsin, to Michigan, to Florida, to pretty much every single corner of this great country of ours.
There is a new Class War. As Hunter wrote:
For some time now, conservatives have been declaring that any minor inconvenience thrust upon the wealthy was "class warfare." I take it this was supposed to inure us to the words, so that we would be very, very ashamed to use them ourselves in all the other situations that might seem to suggest them, i.e. when every cut of government services was disproportionally allocated to services to the poor, or when a governor once again proposed a state budget that raised taxes on the middle class but lowered taxes on the wealthy.
We're obviously not ashamed to call a spade a spade, and Daily Kos labor will focus heavily on this New Class War. Additionally, we'll integrate much of this work with our activism efforts, to give a boost to workers fighting the good fight on the ground.
It's a fight worth fighting. And I'm thrilled that we now have a team that can dedicate itself to it.
