The Michigan Senate has approved Republican Gov. Rick Snyder’s slashing of public education funding – more than $1 billion in cuts affecting all levels of Michigan public education. But Michigan Education Association spokesman Doug Pratt says the Republican action isn’t the last word on public education funding in Michigan.
: “It’s not really a done deal until the voters have a chance to react. And they’re gonna react. Polling shows that the public is incensed about this. And they’re gonna make their voices heard in 2012 if not sooner. The governor’s approval rating has gone through the floor. The governor has said repeatedly that that’s not something he’s worried about. The lawmakers who have to run for re-election in November of 2012 are gonna start to care very much.”
