Amazing news – Last night, Congress passed a clean FAA authorization extension after anti-worker lawmakers temporarily withdrew their efforts to shred fair union voting rules.
It came down to the wire, but the House and Senate passed the bill to the President's desk in time. Thanks to public pressure, including over 10,000 letters from activists like you, Congress avoided another devastating shutdown – which would have cost millions in taxpayer dollars and put thousands of people out of work.
We did it, Steven. We've won for now – but this fight isn't over. This extension only gives the FAA funding through January, and anti-worker lawmakers haven't given up on changing voting rules to count non-voters as "no" voters in union elections.
For now, union elections in the rail and airline industries will still be decided by a simple majority: "yes" for a union or "no" against it, with the majority winning. But representatives like John Mica – who have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the airline industry – could still try to overturn this democratic process.
We have the next four months to fight back against anti-worker lawmakers who are desperate to make union elections unfair. Will you help?
