Unions Occupy Main Street

The Occupy Wall Street movement and Organized Labor are uniting.

After nearly a month of protests, rallies and sleep-ins, the Occupy movement has spread to hundreds of cities and town across the country with a simple rallying cry: "We are the 99% -- and the economy isn't working for us."

Unions are bringing our organizing skills and emphasis on good jobs to help this energetic new movement become a focused political force. With the Senate filibustering to block President Obama's jobs bill, we all need to be on board, together, to push for good jobs for all Americans.

Join us at a march in your city this Saturday: http://blog.aflcio.org/2011/10/13/america-wants-to-work-week-of-action-spotlights-rising-call-for-jobs/

In Los Angeles, hundreds of union members will be joining 'Occupiers' at 10 am Saturday, Oct. 15, at Pershing Square downtown. We'll be bringing the union message of middle-class jobs and fair employment to thousands of activists, and keeping the national spotlight on our fight. Join us!

In solidarity,

Los Angeles Labor 411

2. If you really do want change to come about, this is your chance
to step up make it happen.
I'm not talking about bitching online about our problems.
We need to seize the moment.
Organize locally and link up nationally.
Were doing it in our little town of 1200 persons.
Our occupy event is Oct. 15
Use tactics that bring others into agreement with you, this makes them participants and shows the support we share with each other.
An example would be a sign that reads, HONK IF YOU SUPPORT ?, or, HONK FOR NO CUTS TO SOCIAL SECURITY.
Lets get off our collective asses and do this now.
This is the time we have been waiting for.
We might not get another.
