“We Are the 99% (And So Are You!)” T-Shirts Hit #OccupyWallStreet Protests Nationally

http://wepartypatriots.com/wp/2011/10/25/we-shirts-hit-occupations-nationally/

Leading up to Occupy Wall Street’s October 15th International Day of Solidarity which featured the big New York march to Times Square and nearly 1000 occupations globally, We Party Patriots was able to print 1100 long sleeve T-shirts that donned the We Party logo integrated into the “We Are the 99%” slogan (see graphic above). Thanks to lightning-fast union printers, these American-made shirts were able to be shipped to New York, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles in time for the big October 15th actions.

This was truly a blessing for us as we got to contribute in a real way and help spread the message.

In New York, I made the trip on Friday evening hoping that when the rain, which had fallen all day, finally quit the occupiers would have 500 dry shirts to don. What I encountered was a well-organized and incredibly warm (emotionally, not physically) batch of folks from the Comfort Station. They quickly ushered the (cardboard) boxes, each holding 75 shirts, under tarps and on to plastic box tops for safety. They were surgical in their management of the piles of donated clothes. One gentleman made multiple trips with me to my car (two blocks from Zucotti Park), hoisting boxes on his shoulders with abandon. We put the extra boxes in storage and I headed home.

I returned in the morning roughly 15 minutes after the march left from Zucotti Park on its way to Washington Square. I reached the edge of Zucotti holding a box of shirts and did my best baseball game hot dog salesman impression: “Getcha free 99 percent shirts heeeere!”

GONE IN 60 SECONDS.
