Economic Report: U.S. Income Gap Has Doubled Since 1980 - 03/30/07

Economic Report:

The United States is on the edge of an economic Grand Canyon. According to a report in the New York Times the top 300,000 Americans had almost as much income as the bottom 150 million combined. That is double the size of the income gap in 1980. The average income for those in the bottom 90 percent dipped in 2005 by $172 with gains going to the top 1 percent who saw a nice increase of more than $139,000 each on average.
