Is it safe to go to the Philippines to visit my family?

After my travel agent books my tickets for May for 15 days she tells me how someone told her it wasn't safe for white women over there that they were a "commodity" whatever that means.

I'm 62 years old visiting my son...and I'm nervous as it is about 4 or 5 planes I have to fly on....
and what to expect.

I have checked the internet...but it's mostly trying to sell you on going to their island or beach...
I want to real scoop...
Is it safe?

Anyone have any tips?

1. I think they may have meant to watch out for traffickers

who mostly want women in their teens and twenties.

If you're going to visit your son, presumably he can meet you at the airport and show you around. That should keep you pretty safe.
