Argh. Dad's cancer came back. (Lymphoma)

I just found out yesterday - he'll go through VERY aggressive chemo (3 days non-stop) tomorrow and then stem cell replacement - I thought it was not allowed in the US. Someone help me through this so I can understand what Dad will go through.

1. How's he doing??

I pray for you and your good ole dad. How'd the chemo go? When will the stem cell transplant be?

2. Oh no, HawkeyeX. I'm so sorry to hear it.

I know someone who had a stem cell replacement last year and it was successful (it wasn't fetal cells - I can't remember what kind of stem cells they were, but I can ask). Gosh, I'm keeping you all in my thoughts. Please let us know how he's doing when you get a chance. :hug:

3. New Years Day.Update #1

Hi guys,

Dad just finished the first round of two for his chemotherapy. He was on a 3 day aggressively chemo treatment, and had his neutro shot Sunday (or whatever that shot is called to boost your white cells). And he also had to carry an 24 hour infusion thingy in a blue backpack (He also got his PIC line installed). Friday night, our usual dinner night together, The IV drip bottle turned up red. Turned out the infusion thingy was malfunctioning Dad wanted to call a nurse to get the infusioner fixed. It was eventually fixed by himself, with the assistance of the nurse over the phone and made Dad extremely nervous and he wanted to be excused from dinner early. We let him, since Mom has been really tired. The thing was removed the following day after a 72 hour drip. I don't know if he'll be doing it again for the 2nd round chemo. I hope not, for his sake.

He has lab checks tomorrow, and then the doc on Friday. I'll keep you posted as the battle continues.

P.S. when the Rockies were in the World Series, Dad got extremely lucky and got tickets from a friend free for the 4th game, and could not believe his luck. He still has the ticket stub and will frame it - who knows when the Rockies will return to the World Series. It was very exciting for him, even though he doesn't care much for baseball. When does a major event like that comes to Denver? He has photos too. Yes, I was jealous but he earned it by that remission.

4. Hi HawkeyeX!

I had a stem cell transplant last month to cure my leukemia. So far I am doing amazingly well. An unrelated donor was found for me through the registry and he was a perfect match.

5. Hey - was it autoimmune or autologus?

My dad's stem cell transplant will be autologus.

They found a "perfect match" for me. I don't think autologous works too well for leukemia.
