Sad news (sorry to say)
In his 40th year my brother lost his battle with leukemia. He fought hard, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Too many complications, a body beaten down.
It's been pretty shitty all around obviously, but I hold on to all the great memories I have of hims. He was 3 years younger then me, but we were good friends, as well as brothers.
even though I lost the physical brother, I still carry him, not only in spirit, but in blood, blood that is even thicker then brotherly blood because he saved my life by donating his stems cells so that I may be cured.
My blood type changed, it became his, his blood, his immune system is keeping me alive, strong and healthy every day, and believe me when I say, I think about it daily. So despite the physical loss, he will always, always be with me!
We all loved him so, he was good guy, great father, hardest working man out there, and did it positivity.
Where ever he is now, it's a good place, I know that.
Please take a moment to think about your loves ones, brothers and sisters, mom's and dad's uncles and aunts...good vibes, good thoughts to all the suffering in whatever form throughout the world

Peace and rest to Kevin, my brother, my life saver, I love you!

3. Sorry for your loss Tripper.
But your story is both sad and happy in a way. Sad because you lost a good brother and friend. Happy because he helped you live.

Life/death is a weird thing.

Thanks for sharing your story.

5. Thanks everyone,,,,
Not sure if it's completely hit me yet or not, I think it will on and off down the line.
I just got back early this morning from a benefit party for Kevin and his family. Some good bar bands, lots of drinking and celebrating the joy of having been a part of my brothers life/
His former bosses/employers put it all together.
Door prizes, ranging from t-shirts to concert passes...very cool.
It was a great way to celebrate someones life, and obviously for me, nt brothers life.
He was very much loved, respected and a large circle of Friends and colleagues.

Peace Kev....you deserve it.

7. So sorry!!
And how ironic that he saved you but couldn't survive himself. Did he ever get the transplant, and from whom?

I was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL) in May of 2007, and transplanted in December. So far, knock wood, I am doing well, with a mildish case of GVHD. I am so glad that it worked for you!
