Any people here on Myspace? I have a great person to add if you are.
Meet James and Daddy.

http://www.myspace.com/bizwiz68

Please add him. His spirit has done more for me than I could ever return to him. Here's this week's update:

We are virtually at the end of the second year of treatment for James and it has been an emotional rollercoaster with the incredibly soul destroying lows of the early days to thankfully the high points we find through the hard work and dedication of some incredible people.

I remember the day we was told James had leaukemia. We was sat in an isolation room after James had had some blood tests and an official looking doctor walked in with a nurse and said that he would like a chat with us in his office and the nurse would look after James. My heart sank as i have watched enough TV to know this meant bad news. This proofed to be the case. My world collapsed. I had waited so long for the opportunity to be a dad. I had dreamed of our games of football in the park, watching James playing football for his school team and of course lifting the world cup for England. Now here was a man telling me my son had cancer. I spent days in a zombie like state thinking about funerals, empty rooms without the sound of James voice.

Slowly the gloom lifted, the doctors were giving us hope for the future and the little boy i had waited so long for was showing incredible spirit and determination to fight. That spirit and determination has not been lost and we sit here today with an incredible family supporting us. We are fortunate that our family of support is so huge. Every single one of you reading this is family. I never thought that when we set out on the trail of 100 friends it would grow to be what it is now.

We now have over 330,000 friends and although i have come to realise we may not reach the million friends James was looking for we have still come a long way and created something that is much much bigger than a friends list.

The love and support and inspiration that you have shown us from all over the world is proof that their is so much good in this world and we can lift strangers onto our shoulders and carry them through their troubles.

So we enter into what should hopefully be the last year of treatment for our little Jedi and so much hope for the future. I now get my games of football in the park and the world cup dream is back in full effect.

THANK YOU.

Here is James,
I had a disco at school on Thursday because it is Easter. I am off school for two weeks. I went to the park with mummy and daddy. We had a picnic and fed the ducks. We had a game of football and daddy was in goal as he needs the practice. I had my haircut and mummy said i looked beautiful after.

Why did the monkey cross the road? It was the chickens day off.

Bye Bye
HEAD HIGH AND SMILE

Why the one million friends challenge. I get asked the questions, Why 1 million friends? What will it achieve? on a regular basis so i thought i would try to explain. James and I used to come onto myspace to listen to music and look at the videos just before he was diagnosed and added a few friends. When James was diagnosed and we came to terms with the fact that his cancer and its treatment was going to take over our lives we needed a distraction and the "James and Daddy" page was born. I asked James if he thought we could get one hundred friends and then one thousand and the ten thousand. When we reached ten thousand friends i asked James to set the next target. James said ONE MILLION. We will gain nothing financially from this page but have gained friendship from people around the world and we have shared our story with you all and in return shared your stories. This page has helped us as a family deal with the tough times and share the good times. Now as a father i feel i have to achieve this challenge as i made a vow to James the day after he was born that i would never let him down and i would only make him a promise if i could keep it. So there you have it, the reason for the challenge and why i need you to help me get more friends. We have tried the celebrity route with minor success so all we can do is keep sending out the bulletins and searching out the profiles that have loads of friends and big hearts.

1. I don't think I have a myspace account

but if you want to post this in GD, I bet you could gete a ton of recommendations.

I can't imagine going through that at that age. Still, I understand it - I have cancer, but I'm 46, but my niece who is, I think, 8, has had neurosurgery since she was four months old, and it's hard for a kid to go through, but I'm just amazed at how resiliant she is, and how great her spirits are. I wish James all the best.

Do me a favor and post to GD (General Discussion) and if you don't want to ask directly, quote this posting as a suggestion to reccommend and post/kick. I'll bet you get a ton of answers.
