After having a bit of pain, my oncologist ordered a CT scan which showed growth in the area that was a little suspicious after a scan last November.
Then he ordered a PET scan, and as we suspected, that area lit up -- although he said that it wasn't as bright as it could be, and that there were NO other areas in my abdomen.
This freakin' tumor is the Energizer Bunny of tumors. It keeps on going and going (for the third time).
My doctor and my surgeon conferred and think that the best thing now is to have a Cyberknife treatment --- since all the ops and chemo obviously were ineffective. I've got an appointment with the radiation oncologist next Monday -- I assume just to go over the options.
I've studied up on the Cyberknife, but can't really find any studies regarding it's efficacy. Obviously, those hospitals pushing their CKs only post glowing testimonials from people for whom the treatment worked.
In any case, I thank my lucky stars that I've had 4 years of good health since my first diagnosis and that every time it comes back, it remains at Stage 1.
