Anyone else participating in the Relay for Life?
I am excited.

I am a twenty year survivor of Hodgkins Lymphoma (seems awfully strange to say that - seems as if only yesterday, I was still undergoing treatment).

1. I did this year on May 12.
I walked in the survivors' lap only, as I had had surgery & chemo only three days earlier. It was an amazing experience, to put it mildly. I felt pretty lousy when I got up that morning, but the feeling of walking around the track with my fiance and all the other survivors and their families, while being cheered on by the other participants, is something I won't soon forget.

Apple gave us all iPod shuffles and (LOL) the Olive Garden catered lunch (yes, we had a laugh at the DU joke), but it was nice (I couldn't really eat, of course). Also, all the survivors got free chair massages.

I've had cancer twice in six months (two surgeries and one round of chemo), and I think this was one of the most positive things I've done. I would definitely recommend it to other survivors, especially newly diagnosed ones like me.

Congrats on your 20 year milestone! That's very inspiring!

3. I'm thrilled to see your post!
Thank you for speaking up. I'm also glad you're up to the Relay and excited about it. You are a beacon of hope for all of us who are struggling through cancer, the treatment and the life after all of it. Have a wonderful time out there!
