I know this was posted before Christmas and didn't get too many views. It's from Progressive Democrats of America and calls on us the sign their petition and hold our representatives accountable, asking them to stop funding the war. (HR4243)Appropriate for today, as we pass the sad 3,000 milestone. It's also pretty entertaining; thanks for watching...

Introduced by Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA)

H.R.4232 would prohibit further use of Defense Department funds to deploy United States Armed Forces to Iraq. Funds could still be used to provide for:

* the safe and orderly withdrawal of all troops;
* consultations with other governments, NATO and the UN regarding international forces;
* financial assistance and equipment to either Iraqi security forces and/or international forces.

The bill would not prohibit or restrict non-defense funding to carry out reconstruction in Iraq

I'm starting to think we really need to focus on un-funding, as Impeachment will take too long and the war is obviously going to drag on. (I can almost guarantee the "big speech" we're waiting on will focus on a "surge") We need to stop the carnage sooner, not later.

5. Exactly! I think a lot of people who are crying for impeachment

are doing so because they think that is THE way to stop the war. We need to separate the issues - stopping the war is like stemming the bleeding from the carotid artery. After we stop the war in Iraq - and prevent the bombing of Iran - then we can take the next step.

He should be tried and jailed or at least forced to flee the country at risk of arrest if he ever returns - first we must stop the wars.

I hope that the democratic majority will not allow themselves to be painted into a corner of looking like they don't support the troops by supporting this measure. Not another penny should be allocated to continue this illegal occupation!
