O'Reilly is losing it. In this one he tries to label Sunsara Taylor (from World Can't Wait) a lunatic. Guess who ends up looking like an ANGRY lunatic!!:bounce: AWESOME!

19. That was terrible
She did nothing. She sat there and let him point on his fingers, as if reeling off bullet point facts, that she is a "lunatic" (not kook) several times, claiming her organization had 50 members, claiming that everyone in America thinks she's an idiot and a lunatic, and she just smiles at him. Fuck that. We wonder why the republics think democrats can't defend America...we don't even defend ourselves against assholes like O'Lielly when the opportunity is handed to us on a silver platter.

5. Rahm is not exactly on the cutting edge
of progressive democrats. All along he had a "let's wait and see" attitude about the war, and basically dissed strong anti-war candidates like Tammy Duckworth (see article) He tends to lean right of center for a dem and it's more about money and power than principle. (in my opinion)

He recruited candidates for the Dccc. Many were prowar. Mcnerny won against pombo, and he is a great antiwar congressman.

The candidate Rahm recruited was not anti-war. thank god he lost.
I hope someone runs against Rahm next time.

for every person who voted for the Dems. I do not think that the first thing they need to do is bring everyone home. Cindy says they elected the new Dem majority and they owe her. I didn't have anything to do with Cindy and I helped elect that majority too. She is not the voice for every person who voted for Dems. They want to protest--that's fine and their right. But don't do it in my name!

that when some people see the word "socialist" or "communist" they freak out without looking at the context of the word. I hope we are bigger than that. 18. You really think Billo got his ass handed to him?
Wow. I guarantee you, to his audience it was Billo who kicked Taylor through the uprights for the winning point. While she held her own and didn't lose it, Bill did exactly what the righties and the fundie kooks love...he insulted, he called names, he vilified, he made broad sweeping accusations, and he dominated the debate with his snarky, childish, unsubstantiated bullshit. All that equals "The Truth" to the republics. To them, I'm sure Billo triumphed. Sunsara could have done much more, imho, to put O'Lielly in his place. Remember who this audience is...you don't "win" on Fox News by being civil. You only win by stooping to their level, otherwise you're just another hippie wimp to their viewers.

30. I see what you are saying but...
in my opinion O'Reilly's main (or only) tactic is to insult people so they lose their composure and break their train of thought, sometimes even falling to his level. He usual achieves this by interrupting and talking over his victim (I mean guest). Granted she didn't say to him what I'd like to say (which would probably mention a loofah or two) but on a scale of logic and staying on focus, he didn't offer anything that came close to her argument.

35. I won't argue with you on that point...he didn't offer anything
But that is MY point...the freepers and the folks at Certifiable Underground eat that shit up. That is what THEY think "winning" is. Not making points or offering facts...just beating up your opponent. And in this case, Bill clearly "won." And I'm sure the freepers would agree with. He just kept telling her she is a lunatic, EXACTLY as what would have happened to Taylor, or any one of us, if we tried to post on Certifiable Underground or FR...every poster will join in the call you names until you break down and leave or start calling names back at them, at which point they deride you for calling names.

If you yell back you just look like they do. I think she did a good job holding her own and staying to the point and not letting him get to her, which is clearly what he's trying to do. I don't think he got his ass handed to him but he lost because he didn't get the reaction he wanted and she made her point.

44. I agree with your take on the clip and offer this suggestion:
Nobody can 'win' on Faux News unless you share their views. Just as one cannot win a battle of wits with the witless, one cannot succeed in the Faux News forum. They are like little kids that say, "I know you are but what am I" in an argument or mimic every word and gesture someone else makes until that person walks away shaking his or her head in disgust. Then they declare victory. Let's face it, if you aren't a kool aid drinking Bushbot, you will not advance your point by going on Faux News. Unless someone wants to stomp some ass like the Big Dog did to Wallace, why bother appearing?

All progressives, democrats, liberals, and anyone else who is not a right wing nut job should stand in unity and vow to NEVER appear on that bullshit network again. Let them be a sounding board for the 30% of the 'backwash'. If all they have is the same old propaganda regurgitated from WH press releases, some of their viewers will drift away. When progressives participate in their charade, they add just enough of a hint of believability to the "Fair & Balanced" bullshit tagline to keep some Faux viewers who might be trying to think on their own from jumping ship.

"See, we had a Librul on our show. We gave her equal time and see how she wasted it just being a lunatic? We tried to be fair and balanced but see how crrrrazy they are?"

why anybody goes on Faux News to be "interviewed". It only gives Faux some credence to their claim of being fair and balanced. Those who know better won't watch anyway, those who do watch aren't likely to be swayed. Better to have no democrats, no anti-war people etc on there. Let them have their star-chamber of wingnuts.

27. Why is Sunsara Taylor always on Faux News?
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 02:44 PM by Puregonzo1188
Because she's a member of the Revolutionary Communist Party, a Maoist cult of personality centered around someone named Chairman Bob. The first time (or at least to my knowledge) she was on was to talk about Terry Schivao. She and her fellow RCPer came on and in the most beautiful, articulate manner explained exactly what was wrong with the what the Congress did interfering in the Judicial Branch's decision, separation of powers, etc. And than how did the host of Fox And Friends respond, by asking her about her Communist views, which she want on to explain making her look like a lunatic and supporting the statement that only a "handful of communist" supported Michael Schivo. There's a video somewhere of it, if I find it I'll post. My point is is that only reason Fox brings on Taylor (and to my knowledge she's been on three times) is because although she is very articulate, and intelligent and can defend mainstream progressive views at the end of the day she's automatically discredited because she's Maoist.

In her defense though, she did hand Bill his ass.

36. Well I don't really know why they would be the only one to interview
Cindy Sheehan, as I don't think there's anything to discredit her or the antiwar movement, whereas Sunsara can go on and on about checks and balances, seperations of power, and all of those other things in our contitution for atleast five minutes and all it takes to undo that is to ask her about her relation to the RCP. I mean its bad enough she's a Maoist, but to have her leader named Chairman Bob, I mean how can anyone take that seriously?

She wrote for August 20, 2006 publication that it's better to protest in the streets than to try to elect Democrats.

29. Look at where she wrote that
In the paper for the Revolutionary Communist Party.

Someone earlier in the post made a comment that about red-baiting involving the WCW, and that's not what I'm trying to do. I'm a big fan of of the WCW and have been to two of their rallies in DC. However, there used to be a video, I can't find it now, in which someone on Fox and Friends said the only people supporting Michael Schivo were a "handful of communists" and they than proceeded to bring Sunsara Taylor and another member of the RCP. Like I said earlier, almost all of the arguments where about the constitution, but the host than proceeded to ask her about her Maoist views which served to discredit her and in the aims of Fox, anyone else holding such views.

I have no issues with WCW or communists in the antiwar movement. I just know that in the past Fox has brought her on to discredit certain mainstream views and wonder if thats what their goal is this time.

He lost the argument right out of the gate with his question about how the "extreme left" intends to "appeal" to "the middle." He's still playing THAT broken record? In case you missed the last election, Loofah-lafel, it was your precious so-called "middle" who showed the Republican Congress the door, ushered in a slew of new governors AND re-elected EVERY Dem incumbent! And in case you haven't noticed, they're not too crazy about the Iraq occupation, either. But I'm NOT complaining!

If the extreme right wants to remain in their Bush-guns-and-God-worshipping bubble despite the fact that it's been burst, that's fine with me. The better to further alienate "the middle" and lower your ratings with, my dear! So go, Loofah-lafel, go! RAH RAH RAH!
