"A conversation with George Lakoff, senior fellow of the Rockridge Institute, introducing Rockridge Nation, Nancy Pelosi's 100 hour agenda, and the concept of framing of progressive values. "

He explains the importance of that agenda in setting the right tone. He then discusses that the agenda of a group like MoveOn is far more in depth...but good.

This is an outstanding interview.

1. Very interesting.
Love both agendas of course. ;) Also, I always enjoy listening to Lakoff, I know that Dean consulted with him in the past election, and I think it paid. He's brilliant.

Recommended.

2. The implication I draw is that Nancy was listening to Lakoff when
she created the 100-hour agenda. It's really a brilliant scheme as Lakoff explains it. It gives me a whole lot of faith that the Dems can be effective, and it provides the perfect answer to the critics on the left. Get things moving, get bipartisan cooperation, set some veto traps, let the opposition manufacture the ammo you plan to use against them, and then move on to the harder things once you've fortified yourself on "the low-hanging fruit."

3. "We hold these truths to be self-evident..."
was a brilliant example of an underdog knowing how to speak to the reality that the dominant culture is denying with so much effort.

5. Lakoff just makes SO DAMNED MUCH sense! I'm amazed they haven't
grabbed him and installed him way high up in the DNC or the DFA. He's just brilliant. He really gets it, and our Dems would do VERY well to listen closely to him and take what he says to heart. Hopefully Pelosi is doing so.

6. I believe he has worked with Democrats a lot ....
especially since Dean took over the DNC. Dean wrote the forward to Don't Think of an Elephant.

"And the progressives are starting to get the message. From Howard Dean's forward to the book, "George Lakoff will be one of the most influential thinkers of the progressive movement when the history of this century is written. It is up to those who want change to make good of his unique insights."

7. yes, it was Howard that introduced many of us to Lakoff and
Rockridge Institute. I even attended a Lakoff lecture in LA. He is amazing. Understanding and listening to Lakoff is why Howard is so good at throwing the rethugs shit back at 'em. It is also why he won't answer stooopid questions anymore - 'My views on that issue are well known - next'.
