(slightly paraphrased what Penn was pointing out). He continued to state that Bush's actions in Iraq have strengthened terrorism throughout the world while devastating our American democracy and our military. Penn describes it as shameful but unavoidable that the US has to pull its troops out of Iraq and focus on returning the US to a democracy, and strengthening its military to protect our country from terrorism. He said the US can try to help Iraq with diplomacy and money. He repeatedly made a point that as many Iraqis will die in their civil war whether the Americans stay or leave. The only difference will be how many more Americans will die in Iraq.
