Across the country, Barack Obama's supporters registered voters as part of our 50 state voter registration drive, "Vote for Change."

2. more than anything, this election will turn on America's desire for change . . .
which is why Obama is doing so well . . .

McCain does not represent change . . . Clinton does not represent change . . . Obama has positioned himself as the candidate of change, and is reaping the benefits of this strategic decision . . .

whether Obama can (or even wants to) actually bring about significant change remains to be seen . . . but he has a good chance of winning the election because, more than anything, America wants change -- and that's his campaign theme . . .

the caution, of course, is that it's not who votes that counts; it's who counts the votes . . . Obama could get significantly more votes than McCain and still lose the election, as long as Republican corporations are in charge of tabulating the results . . . they did it in 2000, they did it in 2004, and you can be damned sure they're going to try to do it in 2008 . . .

they have the means . . . they have the motive . . . they have the opportunity . . . the only question is -- will the election be close enough to enable them to manipulate enough votes in enough key districts in enough key states? . . .

unfortunately, it probably will . . .
