1. Yes.
Something straight out of Steinbeck. Horrible.

I wrote the mayor of St. Pete, who is evidently one of Jeb's minions, a scathing e-mail the other day.

Funny, I haven't heard back . . .

7. "why do "I "hate *us*?" because of this kind of s--t. Land of the 'free' my
ass.

Land of the 'haves' living off the labor of the "have-nots".

Shame on 'us'. This is only the begining.

Like the woman asked on this video.... "who you gonna call?"

The police are supposed to KEEP THE PEACE not disturb it.
"Fire danger" yeah, uh, huh. and their tents aren't insured either. :nuke:

9. Kick to the top....this is a "good Christian" mayor's work.
He panders to the right wing like no other mayor I have heard of. This bunch has gotten a strong grasp in Central Florida....this bunch of Christians with so much love for their fellow man.

I have spoken of this type of Christian here at DU before. Am I bitter? You bet I am. A lot of these guys are part of the hijacked Southern Baptists. We left the church I grew up in because they praised the war from the pulpits.

Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 12:45 PM by bushmeat
bulldoze the mayors house - see how he likes it

seriously - many of those homeless people work - they were interviewed on WMNF.org - the audio is in the news archives at their site

of course the MSM is saying these people are lazy and need to get a job when the problem isn't a job, it is affordable housing, god i hate this city's administration

11. In other words, they were "taking out the garbage" in their minds
Do they really think that by doing this the homeless will go away? No, they won't--but it will be interesting to find out if the lack of shelter leads to any deaths. Of course they didn't want to arrest any of the homeless because then they would have had to use county money to keep them in jail! St. Pete should be ashamed. Why isn't the mayor doing something to help them find housing? In many metropolitan neighborhoods there are empty stores--why not buy them and convert them into living spaces combined with a free clinic, counselling, and perhaps recycling that would provide the people with an income? Oh yeah--the repukes are in charge.

St. Petersburg---"On Sunday, January 7, 2007, approximately 70 people took to the street in front of Mayor Rick Baker’s church to protest the mayor’s decision to shut down “Coming Up” Tent City. The crowd contained both homeless residents of Tent City, homeless advocates representing a wide variety of peace and social justice groups, and numerous unaffiliated concerned citizens."

14. Excuse my lack of reverence towards the Police but
Those goddamn PIGS should be charged with home invasion and vandalism.

If any of them had a fucking soul, they'd have immediately disobeyed that order - and because they didn't they're all a bunch of no-good chickenshits.

15. What is it with terrorists and box cutters?
You can't really inspire fear with a box cutter. That's strictly Larry the Cable Guy stuff.

If I am out camping, and someone takes a box cutter to my tent, I hope they are right with God. In the wrong weather, that's a death sentence. IMO, the cops were well on the other side of the law.
