4. Interesting -- a veiled threat
instead of measured and reasoned discourse as to why the poster would perceive this as "pandering".

Is AIPAC holy ground for you, or is there a cloud of darkness concerning this group that makes many leery.

There seems to be a great deal of espionage-type activities between dual citizens high up in the Bush administration and AIPAC. This would seem to be counter to the best interests of the United States.

for example...

5. I meant NO VIOLENCE OR THREAT to this first-time poster who accuses Obama of pandering...
to AIPAC.

This speech was not pandering by Obama. I see this poster- whose FIRST POST on DU was to call this speech as pandering, as a disruptor.

Tell me- where is the threat in saying-

"You call this pandering? F*ck you, and the horse you rode in on. Enjoy your stay."

6. It was in the "Enjoy your stay" comment.
By the way, I did not alert on your post. And the thought never occurred to me.

My point is that there is, indeed, a cloud of doubt concerning AIPAC, as pointed out in the instance I linked to by none other than our very own lala rawraw. I'm not sure that Obama's address was entirely appropriate, given the circumstances.

8. I know of the concerns with AIPAC, both sides, and notwithstanding these-
Obama HAD to speak before them.

We can fairly call it political expedience, but for the posting of this video to inspire someone to go thru the whole process of signing up with a DU account to merely wave it off as pandering- wreaks of disruption.

"Enjoy your stay" has been used quite frequently in the last 15 months in GD:P as a way of saying one expects to see the posters account being tomb-stoned in the very near future.

9. Yeah, yeah. I know.
You're right, of course. I know the tombstone thing is used a lot. (I've never used it, myself, but, of course, I'm superior to most mortals. I DO use ignore, however, but that's when every post I see from any particular individual never ceases to annoy me. You're not in that category, at all.)

Cheers.

10. Cheers backatcha-
I, on the other hand, have only used "ignore" once. that was with RestoreGore, but after a few more posts by her that i missed, i took her off. it was good for a laugh, anyways. good to have that option, i suppose but, i also have the choice to stop reading individual posts...

Anyway- thank you for debating this with me with the civility i (for the most part) find here at DU and that keeps me coming back. I occasionally am lapse in it myself. One of my many shortcomings.

As the "Chant Lady" of Obama lore would say- "Fired up? Ready to go!"

Let's b'rock!

11. Sorry, what's tombstoning?
And why should it happen to me?

I see a guy get up on stage and spend the first few minutes of his speech saying what great friends he has in the audience and how friendly the council is with him and how he is a friend of Israel and it sounds very much like pandering.

Why the animosity?

And what do you have against newcomers? You never had a first post? I guess I shouldn't bother the professionals and their important postings.

7. Very one-sided speech
The "qualitative advantage" of Israel's military can only be a coded reference to Israel's 150-or-so nuclear weapons. As for the two-states solution, Obama made a reference to past agreements, but he did not say which in particular he meant. Not a single word about the legitimate grievances of the Palestinian people, or any interest in their security.

This speech is announcing business-as-usual. I'd like to hear what Obama would say in front of a Palestinian interest group.
