Judge Haywood (Spencer Tracy) delivers the guilty verdicts against the four accused Nazi judges. The parrallels of how these men deluded themselves into commiting their crimes, and the system set up to commit them, are chilling :scared:

1. Thanks, I immensely admired that movie.
I was practically the only person among my friends and family to see it alas even to this day but I have told them about it.

2. Sent chills down my spine...
The words spoken by the Judge (and so beautifully re-enacted by Spencer Tracy) seemed as if he was delivery the verdict today....against me....against all Americans....

I remember watching with my son many years ago, the Charlie Brown special where he and the Peanuts gang visited France. At the end they were in Flanders Field and Linus read, "In Flanders Field" and at the end, he asked, "What did we learn Charlie Brown? What did we learn?"

As I listened to Spencer Tracy, I asked myself, What did we learn, Charlie Brown? What did we learn?

3. What does our country stand for?
We no longer stand for "Justice, truth and the value of a single human being."

We stand for power for the elite, secrecy and collateral damage. How far have the mighty fallen?

6. I saw Judgment at Nuremberg for the first time last year (Netflix pic).
A lot of people consider it hyperbole to compare Nazi Germany with present day Bushmerica, but I think any lesson on how murderers come to power and control a country is an important lesson. It's true that the judges on trial were fairly small-time players, but as Tracy's character said earlier in the film, "Everybody thinks what happened is somebody else's fault."

I guess we all have to share a bit in the blame of what happens in the country and the world. Because of my own issues, I wasn't paying attention in 2000 and got fooled. There were (and are) mitigating circumstances for me: chronic illnesses and very low income. I am paying attention now. Maybe I'm not doing all I can, but I've sort of hit a wall. I just hope others can pick up the slack while I try to heal.
