Check out this frightening attack by the Robert Hunter on a Japanese whaling ship.

I say we have to renounce these kinds of violent, terror tactics or we must also support the wingnuts who claim the right to attack people they find offensive (like gays, abortion doctors, homeless people and pot-smoking hippies). Same logic, different cause.

PS, I won't be responding to personal attacks, so "whale" away if you want, but I won't be playing.

Looked like bumper cars only with ships. Honestly, as long as there wasn't any hull damage, that looks pretty damn fun. I suppose you'd be freaked out on the Japanese whaling ship. It's not like they were bombed or anything. It didn't look like someone was injured. Maybe there was some paint scraping on the boats.

I say this not giving a damn about the whales by the way.

I don't know why it's not evolution and natural selection when we cause a species to go extinct. Poor whales are too fucking slow to do better, then off they go. This is how evolution works.

and if they caused hull damage that was irreparable then they would have to abandon ship. I can see fearing those waters because they would cause death by hypothermia.

I've spent over a half-century going to sea, and my "place of business" was well below the water-line. "Harmless recreation" wouldn't have been the words to have left MY lips, on such an occasion.

Unlike you, I DO give a damn about whales. I haven't fully worked it out in my mind yet, but a sentient mammal, with intellect & emotion close to that of a human, is NOT in any manner comparable to it's weight in plankton! I recall whale meat being sold freely in Japan in the 50s. It wasn't regarded as a delicacy then; rather it was just another source of protein in a protein-starved country. But not now.

one of those Japanese ships decides to 'defend' herself with a couple of sticks of dynamite and ramming it back.
Eco-terrorism is idiotic and accomplishes nothing.If they want the Japanese to stop whaling, go over there and change their cultural beliefs that its magical, healing, whatever they believe. Otherwise you're just wasting diesel and polluting the earth. What if you cracked the hull and it goes down, spillng all its oil, fuel, etc and ruins the eco-system??? Isn't that bad? Does that make you as criminal as the whalers?
